Kerry Carpenter blasted two solo home runs and the Detroit Tigers celebrated their home opener with a 7-4 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday afternoon.Carpenter has three multi-homer games in his career.Riley Greene belted a solo homer among his three hits and Zach McKinstry contributed two hits, a run and an RBI.Spencer Torkelson, Trey Sweeney and Dillon Dingler drove in the other runs for the Tigers.Starter Jack Flaherty (1-0) allowed one run and three hits with seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Tyler Holton retired all four batters he faced. Kenta Maeda and Will Vest finished up on the mound for Detroit, which won 14 of its last 17 home openers.Brooks Baldwin knocked in two runs for the White Sox.Starter Jonathan Cannon (0-1) allowed three runs and three hits in 3 2/3 innings.Miguel Vargas led off the game with a double but couldn’t advance past third.Carpenter gave Detroit an early lead with his one-out solo homer in the bottom of the inning.
