The Mackinac Bridge, which connects Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas, is currently closed, due to a bomb threat.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., it was announced that the bridge was closed, but no specific reason was given. It was confirmed later that law enforcement had informed the Mackinac Bridge Authority that there had been a threat and the bridge needed to be closed out of caution:
Law enforcement notified the MBA of a bomb threat on the bridge; MBA closed the bridge at 2:15 p.m. After an extensive search, nothing has been found. They are completing one more sweep and hope to re-open the bridge soon. MSP and Mackinaw City police are investigating.
