Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced that gyms in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula can open at 25% capacity on Wednesday, September 9th.

According to Detroit’s FOX 2, gyms can open only if those inside wear masks at all times, including when working out. Equipment will also need to be cleaned thoroughly and social distancing rules will be in place.

While gyms will be able to reopen, movie theaters, bowling alleys, and ice rinks will remain closed.

Whitmer also announced that fall high school sports can resume, though she is advising against contact sports.
