We already know the next few months are going to be concert-free, due to the coronavirus, but that ‘next few months’ might actually turn out to be more than just a few.

Dr. Ezekiel ‘Zeke’ Emanuel, a special advisor to the director general of the World Health Organization, recently spoke to The New York Times and said that he doesn’t expect it to be safe to attend concerts, sporting events, and other mass gatherings for at least the next eighteen months.

The reason Dr. Emanuel thinks we may have to wait is because of the potential for the virus to pop back up and continue to infect people, even after the curve has been flattened across the country.

He points out that places like Hong Kong and Singapore have loosened their restrictions, which is great, but it also means that there’s the potential for the coronavirus to start spreading again.

So, will it be eighteen months before we’re able to go to another concert? We sure as hell hope not.
