Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate scored a touchdown early in his team’s loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, October 15th. To celebrate, Tate dropped ‘The People’s Elbow.’
That’s right. Tate performed one of the most well-known finishing moves in professional wrestling, made famous by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, on an unsuspecting football.
‘The Rock’ critiqued Tate’s celebration on Twitter:
Heart stoppin’, elbow droppin’.. @ShowtimeTate brings the dangerously exposed elbow to the pigskin today. 👏🏾👍🏾👊🏾 #PeoplesElbow @NFL https://t.co/ZLAmJigvDl
— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) October 15, 2017
Sure, the Tate and the Lions may have lost the game, but they definitely won the celebration war.
The Lions enter their bye week at 3-3. They’ll face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, October 29th.
