It took more than 30 at-bats to get from home run 499 to home run 500, but Miguel Cabrera has finally done it!
Cabrera became the 28th player in Major League Baseball history to hit 500 career home runs when he went deep against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, August 22nd.
The first baseman became the first player to hit his 500th home run in a Detroit Tigers uniform. Cabrera started his career with the Florida Marlins before being traded to ‘The Motor City’ in 2007.
Following the home run, Cabrera was mobbed by his teammates and received a standing ovation from those in attendance in Toronto.
