The 2021 Grammy Awards were this past Sunday and there were several tributes to beloved artists that we have unfortunately lost, including one for Eddie Van Halen.

However, Eddie’s son, Wolfgang Van Halen used his Instagram account yesterday to express his disappointment with how The Grammy’s decided to handle his father’s tribute.

He starts his post off by letting us all know that The Grammy’s asked him to to play ‘Eruption’ for the ‘In Memoriam’ section, but that he declined, stating that “I don’t think anyone could have lived up to what my father did for music but himself,” and also being under the assumption that the ‘In Memoriam’ section would do his father justice.

Unfortunately Wolfgang was hurt to witness that they only paid tribute to Eddie for 15 seconds in the middle of four other full performances and that Eddie wasn’t mentioned when they talked about artists we lost in the beginning of the show.

Wolfgang said that even though his father would have just laughed it off and not have cared he would quote “love to get the opportunity to speak with The Recording Academy not only about the legacy of my father, but the legacy of the Rock genre moving forward.”

We are interested to see where that conversation leads. For now you can check out Wolfgang’s whole Instagram post below.
