Avenged Sevenfold missed their scheduled performance with Metallica Friday night, May 12th, because guitarist Synyster Gates’ wife went into labor and the musician rushed to California to be by her side.

The band made the announcement that they wouldn’t be performing with Metallica Friday night on their Facebook page:

According to Loudwire, this is Gates and his wife’s first child. The band is expected to rejoin Metallica and Volbeat on Sunday, May 14th.
